GLEAN 5 is now in stores! With Orla Barry as Guest Editor, a Brussels City Report and the cover edition by Kendell Geers.
Our Guest Editor for this issue is artist and shepherd Orla Barry. Barry requested this section to be set in a dyslexia-accessible font. Sebastian Cichocki wrote about her practice, and Kathleen Weyts interviewed Barry. In close collaboration with the designers, Barry compiled a visual essay with text fragments, film stills, quotes, and image contributions from other Irish artists.
This issue also marks the introduction of GLEAN’s City Report! Each issue will bring an art lover’s perspective on a different city. Kicking off the season in our home city was a no-brainer. With artistic contributions by Maxime Fauconnier and Natural Contract Lab.
The cover of this autumn issue is based on a new artist edition by the Brussels-based artist Kendell Geers. His print draws on decades of research into Marcel Duchamp’s brief but pivotal visit to Munich in 1912 (also check out his essay in this issue).
Also in this issue: Lucy McKenzie about her upcoming show at Z33, Maluza Vindes on the work of Nástio Mosquito and studio visits with Lisa Vlaemminck and Paloma Bosquê. Michelle Mlati speaks with KANAL-Centre Pompidou’s new Curator-at-large Sandrine Colard, and WIELS director Dirk Snauwaert has written an obituary for Kasper König. Other artists featured include Kasper Bosmans, Joar Nango, and Wu Tsang; introducing Moshin Goosen as our new columnist, we review shows from Busan to Basel, and there is much more.
